10 Weeks: Terrible Twos?

And growing…
New foods that Hobkin tried and liked this week:
Corn on the cob (cooked and de-cobbed), parsnips, cherries, hard-boiled egg, and chewable cat vitamins.
New foods that Hobkin has turned his nose up at this week:
Rhubarb, okra, red potato (baked), and, shockingly, a quarter of a vanilla cookie.

We’ve noticed that Hobkin’s making more sounds these days. There are two distinct ones that we’ve heard. When he’s impatient or grumbly—like when we lock him away in his area—he makes “roink roink” sounds. It’s obviously a complaining noise and the first time I heard it, I was worried that something was terribly wrong. However, when I picked him up and cuddling him, he stopped. When he’s happy and relaxed, he makes a sort of skunky purr, a “mrh mrh” sound. He does this when he’s cuddled up in our laps, being petted. Often when he makes this noise, I’m not sure if he’s asleep or not. He also makes “rrh rrh” sound when he’s soundly asleep and dreaming—tail twitching, paws flexing. Makes us wonder what he’s dreaming about.
This week we expanded Hobkin’s roaming room to give him our bedroom. So far, he’s more interested in hanging around with us in the living room rather than exploring it, although he did give it a thorough sniffing. With some coaxing, he also used the litter pan we put in there for him. For the most part, we’re still keeping that door closed, but we’re expanding his range a little bit at a time.
His teeth have grown a lot since we first got him. They’re now rather formidable. And he’s still a baby! When he’s full-grown, they’re going to be downright scary.
I made a hand puppet/glove out of some faux fur I had lying around (I used to sew stuffed animals as a hobby):
