12 Weeks: Gettin’ Fixed

We bumped up Hobkin’s neutering appointment by a week. He went in this Friday for surgery, making him twelve weeks and four days old at the time of neutering. He was getting very aggressive with his biting play, and he had begun to “interact amorously” with his toys. It was time. We’ve heard from others that the hormones will cycle through his system in four to six weeks, and after that time, his biting behavior should disappear. Whew.

It might look cute, having him bite my feet. Until you see his teeth!

He had to stay overnight at the vet’s, and although I’ve got complete faith in our vet, it was very hard leaving him for that long. But he came back from the vet’s with a clean bill of health. We had them run a complete blood work test for him while he was there to make sure there weren’t any early warning signs of health issues and to use as a baseline if we need to later on down the road. The vet complimented us on how good he’s looking. He’s not overweight or anything. Hurray for a vegetarian diet!

New yum foods:
Vanilla cookie - he’s decided he likes them after all, craisins, apples, blueberries, strawberries, and cherries. (It was a big couple of weeks for fruit.)

Turned his nose up at:
Bok choy and turnips

When he got home, he was completely up for tearing around the house; he didn’t act at all like he’d had surgery. We tried to encourage him to take it easy.

Eventually we got him to settle down.
