7 Weeks: New Baby!

At seven weeks old, Hobkin was just a handful of fuzz. He was descented at the breeder’s at around four weeks and given his first vaccinations. He was probably weaned at around six weeks. When we got him, he had teeth, but they were just beginning to come in. The breeder was feeding him a fox chow moistened with formula (goat’s milk). We introduced him gradually to a range of vegetables and beans and rice, with low-fat yogurt and cottage cheese for calcium and extra protein.
Currently, his favorite veggies are cucumber, sugar snap peas, and snow peas. He’ll also eat carrots, red and green bell peppers, and to a lesser extent, yellow squash and zucchini. He doesn’t like mushrooms, tomatoes, or broccoli. He loves his cottage cheese, and beans and rice.

He’s just a baby so he sleeps a lot.
He’s smaller than Matthew’s foot right now, but he’s growing fast
He learned how to use the litter pan in one day. They didn’t use them at the breeder’s, so at first he wasn’t sure what that strange plastic box was for. We use recycled newspaper kitty litter (note: clay or clumping litters should not be used with skunks or ferrets). We put a little bit of his feces into the litter pan in a small travel cage and he caught on after only one miss. He’s now graduated from the travel cage and has run of the great room/dining room/kitchen when we’re at home and uses the covered litter pan in his area in the kitchen as well as a pan in the spare bathroom.
He learned to come to his name by eight weeks old, and now if we don’t see him, we call for him and he comes running.
