Bards and Sages Quarterly named me their Author of the Year for 2009. Killers (Swimming Kangaroo Books, 2008), with my story, "Beautiful Summer," was a finalist in the 2nd Annual Black Quill Awards (2008) in the category of “Best Dark Genre Fiction Collection.”

“Body and Soul Art” was reprinted in The Best of Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine: Horror, Tehani Wessely (ed.), June 2007. Realms of Fantasy Aug 2008 “Daughter of Bótù” was recommended by Aaron Hughes as his Story of the Week pick at Fantastic Reviews Blog.

The August 2008 issue of Realms of Fantasy has an impressive list of contributors…but even among such strong company, I found “Daughter of Bótù” the clear standout.

Steve Berman’s So Fey: Queer Fairy Fictions (Haworth) was one of the stronger themed anthologies of the year. Favorite stories include Holly Black’s heartbreaking “The Coat of Stars” and Eugie Foster’s “Year of the Fox,” as well as work by Craig Laurence Gidney and Laurie J. Marks.
