Watched a lot of Angel episodes last night. Going to watch a couple more today. I’m so glad the WB renewed it. I would’ve gone into total Joss Whedon withdrawal if there wasn’t at least one show of his on the air.
Also saw Two Weeks Notice with Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant yesterday. I really liked it! I mean, it was a romantic comedy and as such it was a bit predictable. But there was some genuinely good writing–both funny and touching.
Took some Clonazepam at bedtime. The jury’s still out on whether I’m allergic to it or not. But my TOS is better.
And I got a note from the President/CEO of Phobos Books. Phobos (publishers of the “Hitting the Skids in Pixeltown” anthology) is trying to have a presence at Dragon*Con with James Maxey, another of their writers, and Keith Olexa, the Phobos editor. They do plan to have Pixeltown out in time for Dragon*Con (oh boy!). I’d told her that I worked Dragon*Con and my affiliation with the Daily Dragon and she wants me to join the Phobos contingency too. Aside from the autographing and publicity mongering, she’s also trying to set up a panel for us all to be on. If it pans out, it’ll be my second Dragon*Con panel. Hurray! And gleep. Did I mention my terror of public speaking? Ah well. The first panel went okay (it was a couple years ago). When I glazed up with a deer-in-headlights look, one of my fellow panelists nudged me and asked me a nice leading question to get me going again. Maybe I should warn Keith and James beforehand . . .
But it means I’ll get to autograph books! Ohboyohboyohboy! It’s all still so shiny and new. Can you tell?
That is just too cool. A signing! Some day…
I’m still in disbelief-land, myself!
Wow! I love the new pic! Good luck with the Phobos arrangements.
Thanks! And yeah, I’ve been using the same default icon since I first started my LJ. Thought it was time for a change!
Nice
I had a blast at dragoncon last year. Met a lot of great people and felt very at home there. It ended too soon I think.
Wish I had the time to check it out again this summer.
Sitting on a writer’s panel looks like much fun too. Good luck.
Re: Nice
“It ended too soon I think.“
Dragon*Con always feel like it ends too soon. Even when I’m half-dead from lack of sleep, starving and/or ill from four days of wonky feeding habits, and half-crippled from painful shoes and/or corsets, it’s over too quickly. If I could find a paying job that was like working and playing the Dragon*Con experience, I’d be one happy Eugie.

Thank you. If it was anything like last time, I’ll feel physically ill for the hour before it starts, shake uncontrollably while I’m being introduced, and then have to be jostled to speak. But once I start talking, I’ll happily babble until the time keeper gestures frantically at me to quit, and then I’ll feel totally euphoric for the next three hours.
Wow. I haven’t gotten to do any signings of my stuff yet.
*lob*
Angel is definitely a good thing. I’ve already preordered the second season. I’m hoping Angel does not follow the Buffy example, since we’re now about to start season 5–but even if it does, we should have one more good season before it starts to tank. 😉
On the less good news front…
We’re not going to make Dragon*Con after all this year. 🙁 I was really looking forward to getting to meet you, but it’s just not going to happen. You sure you won’t be at GenCon by any chance?

Really? I’m surprised, what with White Wolf being so big and it’s presence at all the big cons. But I’m sure you will as soon as your novel(s) come out. (*lob* right back atcha, btw.)
“We’re not going to make Dragon*Con after all this year“
Nooooo!! WAH!! I was so looking forward to getting to meet you properly! Triple pook.
“You sure you won’t be at GenCon by any chance?“
Unfortunately, no. Our travel plans out-of-state are pretty much nonexistent these days between trying to keep an eye on finances and not wanting to overstay Hobkin’s welcome with his godmother (we’re going to ask her if she’d be willing to board him during Dragon*Con). Damn.
Maybe the stars will align next year . . .
