Bunny of the Month Club!

Ooo!! I want THIS. It’s a “Bunny of the Month Club” with extremely twisted hand made bunnies (and bears and penguins). Oh I want it I want it I want it!

But, err, my birthday isn’t for four months. Sigh.

Spent most of last night doing Daily Dragon prep: setting up templates, forms, fiddling with graphics, peering at my staff schedule, etc. Feeling pretty confident about being ready in time for the convention. Barring any unforeseen emergencies. Oh, wait, what am I talking about? It’ll be chaotic and insane. Yup.

Writing Stuff:

Got the current SFWA Forum in the mail. Realized that since I had the contracts from Cricket (received in May even) for “When Shakko Did Not Lie,” “Razi and the Sunbird,” and “The Snow Woman’s Daughter,” I could have upgraded my SFWA membership from Associate to Active already. So, I filled out the web form and assembled my “proof of publication” documents and stuck the whole stack o’paper in the mailbox. As soon as the paperwork goes through, I’ll be an Active member, able to vote in the Nebulas and everything! Woo!

Question: do you find having the membership beneficial to your career?

Yeah, I’m pretty pro-SFWA. No only do I list my membership on my cover letters (on the off chance it’ll get me up a rung in the slush), but there are a lot of other perks that go with it–like receiving the Bulletin and the Forum to stay on top of industry news. As well as the members directory which lists the phone numbers, addresses, and email contact info of its members. And of course things like the legal aid fund, the emergency medical fund, and the audit request feature. Then there’s the networking at the SFWA parties at WorldCon (although I haven’t been able to make the last several since the weekends conflicted with Dragon*Con), as well as on the SFF.net members-only bulletin boards.

Plus, my membership dues are tax deductible!

  3. Ugh. I thought it’s a real bunny! LOL!!

HAHAHAHAH!! Thank you for posting the bunny site! I love it! Someday, I’ll have enough money to just order things like that when I like them. Yes, sir, that’s one reason I got out of vet med. 😉

Aren’t those the most incredible bunnies?? I cooed and giggled and pointed them out to Matthew . . . wonder if that was hint enough for my far-in-the-future birthday desires.
