D*C 2004 directors staff meeting

My early AM insomnia seems to have reared its head. Woke up at 5ish and then couldn’t get back to sleep. Dammit.

The first Dragon*Con directors meeting was yesterday. They fed us again. Yum. We traded small animal adventures with dire_epiphany, astralfire, and tk0667 whereupon we learned that tk0667‘s nemesis is gerbil-kind. Laughed so hard my side still aches, and I had tears coming from my eyes.

Also swiped a whole bell pepper from the buffet table to bring home for Hobkin. A peace offering for abandoning the fuzzbump for so long.

A few announced guests for this year at the meeting:

Harlan Ellison (!)
Peter Jurasik
Peter David
Storm Constantine (she’s actually going to direct a new track this year!)
Emerald Rose
Cruxshadows (yes!)

I’m jazzed.

It was also officially announced that Matthew will no longer be co-director of the Daily Dragon with me as he is now going to be the director of a new film track as well as taking over webmaster duties for the main site. Sigh. I knew I’d lose him from the DD, but I didn’t think it’d be so soon! But he’s bouncy about the film track, so that’s cool. Less bouncy about the webmaster position . . .

It’s okay to lose Matt, because you’ll have me!

    (Yes, I’m in.)

  2. pleroma says:

What is the film track that he’s doin’?

    • Eugie Foster says:

It’s an (all new!) independent film track which will have panels on special effects, makeup, low-budget film-making etc., featuring actors, directors, various and sundry technical people involved with movie-making, critics, and other expert-types. That sort of stuff. He’s doing it in conjunction with the film festival so as to get panelists who are this year’s festival winners.

Why? You interested in a job on his staff?

      • pleroma says:

Very very possibly. I’d either get involved with something like what Matt’s doin’ (which does sound pretty cool) or TechOps for which has invited me to join. Tell your hubby that I might be interested; he also has worked somewhat with me before, so he knows what kinda worker he’d be getting.

        • meep! I knew I would lose you someday from Signage… *sniffle*

          But, I guess… if it’s to help Matt… blah, blah, blah…

Just when were you going to tell me anyway???

(By the way, since sarcasm doesn’t always play well in ascii… that was all a joke… ;D )

          • pleroma says:

I told you and your family that without you guys heavily involved in Signage, it wasn’t as fun or really a reason to be there. and Matt have always been busy with their jobs in the Daily Dragon and rushing about hither and yon (except for Matt’s dogged determination to get the Daily Dragon out) even super late at night, so I wasn’t able to work alongside the two of them either to any great degree.

Color me pouty for not being happy doin’ a job and not bein’ able to hang out with cool people like you guys to the degree I wanted to.

            😉

        • Eugie Foster says:

He’d love to have you on board. I’m passing on your email address to him. I expect he’ll be getting in contact with you ’bout details of his track and his spiel before too long!

  3. reudaly says:

Peter Jurasik! I LOVE him – he’s high on the list of people I want to meet someday.

    Good job.

  4. kafkonia says:

Wow. That’s a nice list of folks. Don’t let Harlan drop a chandelier on anyone. 😉

  5. I never thought that you and Matthew work together. That is so neat. I know you won’t be with him at the DD but I’m so happy for him that he’s got the new film track going on for him. Congrats!
