Falling behind on chores

I really need to do the laundry. Actually, I needed to do it last week. This morning, while getting ready for work, I seriously considered how well my co-workers would handle it if I showed up in a black vinyl corset and mini-skirt. It was that or a pastel print blouse that makes me look like an 80’s reject in the Barbie and Ken world (it was a gift from well-meaning, but fashion defunct, relatives). Plus I think they’d handle the vinyl better than the French Maid ensemble.

Routine maintenance chores are getting a bit of the shaft while Matthew’s convalescing. Hmm. Weekend looks like a big time for housework. Blick.

But, on an up note, handling my con-wear reminded me that I’m so looking forward to Dragon*Con. I’m missing the feel of vinyl and corseting and stiletto boots. My fetish fix from is fading fast (whoa, check out the alliteration!)

Snark! Thank you. But sadly, I doubt very much that my co-workers would be of the same opinion. Before, when I worked at corp HQ up north, I got narked on not once, but twice for my “inappropriate attire.” What was I wearing? Corsets? Vinyl? Thigh-boots? Ultra mini-skirts? A little Catholic schoolgirl outfit, even? Nope. Leggings. Plain jane, black leggings. Actually, the one case was a black one-piece cat suit and I even had a shirt belted over it. The second time was just leggings under a sweater.

Corporate mentality. Ptoo. But, to be fair, I suspect my co-workers at my current locale are a lot more laid back there than they were at Corporate. Further out from the nexxus of business appearance-is-everything philosophy and all.

I don’t guess there’s any chance whatsoever that you guys have had a change in circumstances and will be able to make it to GenCon as well, after all? I’d really love to meet you both in person, but there’s just no way we can do D*C this year. 🙁

Glah. I would love to meet up with you and George and introduce my hubby to y’all at GenCon. But . . .but. Man, this so sucks. We’ve been regular GenConers for, like, ever and I hate the idea of missing it, and I’ve even got that “Babes of GenCon” calendar modeling gig thing lined up for this year. But the thing is, I just don’t see how we can manage it. Our finances are so tight, and now we’ve got this baby animal at home that I don’t want to board and . . . wah! Sigh. Maybe the stars will align in the future.

        Sniff… 🙁

I guess bringing the little nipper isn’t an option, though–I think most hotels frown on pets in general, to say nothing of skunks–and I fully understand the finances issue. As it is, if I’d known about the money I have to spend at the dentist, I wouldn’t have bought tickets for GenCon either.

(Heck, though, it’s probably a good thing I did. I mean, if I get even one extra good-sized contract out of this, it’ll pay for itself, and this is primarily a business trip.)

Still, I’m sorry you won’t be there. For what it’s worth, I’m planning–finances permitting, as always–to try to get a lot more involved in the RPG community, and that means I’m hoping to make several of next year’s cons.

But you’re going to miss my first time. I’ve never been to a real gaming con before. (The one I went to in Dallas a few years back doesn’t count. It was tiny, and cramped, and sucked, and I was there for only about an hour since I only went to meet with Justin Achilli for the first time.)

          Waaaah!!

You’ve never been to a gaming convention? Ooo, Mousie-fangs! I’m going to miss your de-flowering? WAH!

*sniffle* Well you gotta go to GenCon. I mean, you can even write it off as a business expense and stuff being a (droool) White Wolf author. *Insert envy and much green-eyed monster slaverings*

But . . . but . . . how can you miss Dragon*Con? Isn’t it the con where all the White Wolfers go to party? I mean, WW’s headquarters is like a Marta token away from the Hyatt, isn’t it? And it’ll have 55K attendees, Goth bands out the wazoo, and geeky “Once, I played this Malk, who–you’re going to love this–*heh heh heh* . . .” LARPers, what more could you want? Um, ignore that last one, okay?

          Pook. Double pook.

“I’m going to miss your de-flowering?”

LOL. I was this close to using that phrasing myself, in my previous comment. 🙂

And yeah, Dragon*Con’s the big White Wolf one, since they’re based right there. But we can only do one con this year, and while we seriously considered doing Dragon*Con, three factors got in the way:

            1) We can’t afford to stay at a hotel; we have a friend who can let us crash in his hotel room at GenCon, who couldn’t do so at D*C.

            2) I’m in a friend’s wedding on September 1.

            3) George’s Fall semester kicks up the week before D*C.

All of which means no Mouse at Dragon. 🙁

            This year, anyway…

On the up side, because WW is in Atlanta, we often vacation up in that area, and there’s a pretty good chance we’ll be there at some point before next year’s D*C, although I couldn’t for the life of me tell you when (or even, for certain, if). I’ll certainly let you know, though. 🙂

*bouncy bouncy bounce* I shall be scanning the heavens, waiting for the constellations to be auspicious until then :).

I’m sure you’ll love GenCon. Hey, if you and/or George want to play in any LARPs, if the Cthulu guys are there again, I highly recommend them. They run an absolutely fabu production.
