Life is pain, you just get used to it

All the recent stress appears to have done in the fragile equilibrium of my human suit. Wing stubs are flaring something fierce–although that might also be due to the less-than-ergonomically-ideal temporary working setup I’ve been using. Ouch owie ow. My joints and muscles have also been so achy that it interfere with my ability to fall asleep. For a brief while, I entertained the notion of popping a Klonopin last night to knock me into sleepy-land, but then it occurred to me I’d be taking both an amphetamine and a benzodiazepine at the same time, which would be wrong. *gurgle* Too many pills.

LJ just informed me that my extra user pictures expire in ten days. Pook. I’d recently made some new ones too. But there’s simply no way I can rationalize paying for extra user pix, alas. The sad realization that I’m going to need to seriously start looking into that whole day job thing is ruthlessly clubbing me over the head. Ow.

Writing Stuff

While I did a lot of various and sundry editorial work for both Tangent and The Town Drunk yesterday, as well as a whole gob of copy editing for fosteronfilm, I did precious little writing. I have once again fallen off the 100 words/day wagon.

I suck.

I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been in so much pain. Stress is a vile, evil thing, and I hope that yours eases up very, very soon.

I also hope that you feel better soon. VERY SOON.

Hmmm, maybe a part time job is in order? I’m working now more than I ever have and, I have to say while working certainly is, well, work, it’s really not so bad.

Having a few extra pennies does have a way of making one feel more secure than not. 🙂

I’d be happy as French toast to find a suitable part-time post, but I’ve been as effective at landing one of those as I have been at a finding a replacement full-time gig. Sigh.

Sorry to hear about the achy wing stubs.

Though I am both happy for you and jealous of you regarding the contract.

You most definitely do NOT suck.

Take care of yourself. Stress is a killer.

      Thanks, sweetie.

I must not stress. Stress is the mind-killer. Stress is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my stress. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the stress has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I’m so sorry. Some days are just cruddy, you know?

But at least you have skunkie feet to squeeze.

    We love ya.

*hugs back* Thank you. I greatly appreciate the outpouring of encouragement and support. I think I’d just crumple into a twitching, mewling Eugie-puddle on the ground otherwise.

You can always go for an overnight job instead, but I don’t recommend it. You’ll get like me: pasty pale and moaning, “Brrraaaiiinnnnssss!”

Pasty and pale I can deal with. I’m already maxxed out in that regard since I fanatically avoid the sun for medical reasons anyway (UV rays can trigger a Lupus/MCTD flare-up). But working third shift? *shudder* Never again. I did it for a year when I was much younger, newly spat into the job market from college, and it just about killed me. I was more of a day person then; my circadian rhythms have gone wonky this last year. But I remain convinced that I am wholly and completely unsuited to working the night shift.

Then again, human brains being the tasty treat they are and all . . .

        Brains….yummmy….

The coolest thing about discussions with other SF/F and H writers: I can talk about eating brains without getting taken seriously and looked upon as psychotic. 🙂

Or talk about fairies without automatically being seen as delusional.

        And the list goes on…

Yep. Life among the “norms” can be…irritating. Humorous, but irritating.

    1) You are in pain.
    2) You are tired.
    3) You have been editing.
    4) You have money concerns.

Not writing for 1 day with these things hanging over you DOES NOT MAKE YOU SUCK.

Now me, I have no excuses beyond bone-deep laziness. I’m not even going to say anything about the mountain of ironing, because I finished that about 3 hours ago.

Hey, ironing is very . . . therapeutic. I was going to say “important,” but I’ve still got my slovenly hippie sensibilities regarding wrinkled clothes and ironing that I embraced in high school. But I’m totally there with you on cat waxing via therapeutic housework chores.

We both need to get some word count going.

  21. Oh, heck, can’t you put the evil day job thing off a while longer? And, that “I suck” comment? How out of character? Glad to see your later posts were definitely more positive. I am sending out all kind of positive vibes for you to get a novel contract soon. Your agent must be a genius. I have been reading WICKED and if Bill Reiss discovered this guy, he must be amazing.
