Sad news

I just heard that the person in my writers group with the brain tumor died yesterday. She passed away peacefully, losing her heroic battle with cancer.

I didn’t know her very well. We’d exchanged critiques as well as supportive emails cheering each other’s successes, but never spoken in real life. She was a talented writer with wit, humor, and a distinctive worldview. I’m saddened that I’ll never get a chance to meet her in person.

  1. I’m really sorry. It always worries me that someone I only know online might pass away and I’ll never find out.

      Roz had a large circle of online friends, and her best friend/roommate has been keeping all of us up-to-date on her condition once she became too weak to type on her own. I’m very grateful for that.

  2. ugh.

    I’m sorry. I hate to see anyone have to go that way. ;_;

    I am very sorry to hear this, Eugie. I’m glad the end was easy, at least, and I’m sure she led a rich and full life.

    Is someone going to ask aburt to add her to the “In Memoriam” section on the Critters web site?

    • Eugie Foster says:

      Thanks for reminding me. I’ve sent off a note to Andrew. I suspect I won’t be the only one to do so as the writers group that I interacted with her most with is comprised of ex- and/or current Critters members.

    I am sorry. I knew several other people who knew her, but I never “met” her online or otherwise myself. Still, it is always sad.

      Thank you. Roz had a large circle of online friends around the world. I’m not surprised you know people who knew her. She was a vivacious and personable writer.

    If I don’t see one of my friends online or posting somewhere, I get worried.
