Sale! And rejection.

Just heard from Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine that they want to buy my story “Body and Soul Art”! Woohoo!! They said they’d like to publish it in issue #14.

And an email later, heard from Neo-opsis on that story that’s been languishing in their “maybe” pile forever that, while they thought it was a “well constructed story,” they’re going to pass.

Still, I count that as being ahead. My second sale to ASIM. Go, Aussies!

And hey, this is my thirtieth fiction sale! I guess that means I’m all grown up.

Woo Hoo indeed! I’ve still got my fingers crossed for ASIM – still in that 3rd round waiting for a spot.

    Yay, you!

    Congrats! But also…

::makes the Lost-Boy voice:: “Don’t leave us, Wendy-Lady.”

Does this mean you’re officially a pro, now??

According to the IRS, I’ve been officially a pro since 2001, after my first sale. According to the SFWA, I’ll officially be a pro as soon as Cricket publishes (and pays me for) one of the four stories of mine they’ve currently got waiting to be placed (making it my third “SFWA qualifying” sale). According to me, I’m not officially a pro until I’m making more from my writing than barely enough to pay the occasional grocery bill or, if I’m very lucky, our mortgage payment for a month.

I think that makes me a neo-pro, a la Tobias Buckell.

Congrats. I’m almost up to my 30th sale as well, I imagine it’d feel cool when I reach that point.
