So Six Flags was holding a promo freebie today: free admission between the hours of 6AM to 9AM. Well, apparently every child and their cousin was trying to get in on it *grumble fume*, resulting in heaps o’ chaos and the gates closing at 6, as well as a holy muckup of traffic which impacted my commute to the MARTA station, even though I’m going southbound and Six Flags is west of the perimeter. Huge stretches of 400 whereupon I sat at a complete stop, waiting to creep forward.

Yah, I tabled “Better a Heart of Fire.” I’ve got the writing bug now, but it’s been so long since I was producing things regularly ’cause of the legislative session, I’m rusty on the word cranking routine. Couldn’t seem to muster up the discipline to put words on the page and finish the thing when my momentum flagged. Not an auspicious sign for my post-session novel aspirations.
Also feeling like my prose craft is particularly raw from disuse. To bolster my morale and get back into the fairy tale rhythm, I went back and read over some of the other re-tellings I’ve written. And y’know, they were pretty good. Then I read over my current WiP . . . and it wasn’t.
Morale not so much bolstered as knocked down and kicked in the dirt.

Awwwww!! :huggles: Just remember, the only way to improve your craft again is to write. So pick up that morale, brush it off, and tell yourself “I wrote like this before, and I can write that way (and better!) again; all I have to do is keep writing.” And make yourself believe it.

Not so much riding a bike as exercising in general, I’ve found. Writing muscles atrophy when not used for a while, and it takes gritted teeth and more than a few aches and pains to get limber again. Sigh.

Some youngsters got out of cars and began walking down I-20 to get to the park, but Six Flags’ officials turned them away, saying people had to arrive in cars to take advantage of the offer. Something about this is appalling.

Actually, I think it’ll work to their favour …
Apparently, people started queuing at around 3:30 am … the park was at capacity pretty much from the minute it opened. All the exit ramps to Six Flags were closed before 8 am, so people just started parking and walking.
I think the county/highway officials will be highly put out with Six Flags, but I think they’ll get away with it. It’s too easy to blame it on things like poor highways, etc. Completely untrue, of course, but people will eat it up.
And AR’s right … you are cute when indignant 😀
I discovered (with the help of mroctober) a way to get back in writing flow when you’re feeling rusty. Retype a finished section of a story, either one of yours or even someone else’s that you like. It almost like tricking your brain into working again. It works like a charm.

Speaking of which…I need to stay away from MySpace for a few days. That just gets too addictive. Great place to find bands and writers to interview, but still, a bit time-consuming.
