Muchly sleep deprived. Got to bed late and was awakened frequently and prematurely by a restless skunk. Ended up getting up at 5:30ish, so I decided to just come into work early. I noticed that it’s much quieter on the MARTA at 7:45 than it is at 8:15. The train’s still as full, but that half hour difference seems to render everyone dazed and blinking.
Writing Stuff
Urg. I’m so behind on Tangent work. I’m the furthest behind I’ve ever been. The reviews-to-be-published are piling up, but I’ve been making such good wordage progress that I didn’t want to stop writing. Meep.

– squirrel-monkey suggested to darinbradley that he tender me an invite to submit something for the Farrago’s Wainscot (farragoblog) project. He did, and I did, and F’sW will be reprinting “The Life and Times of Penguin.” Shiny!

New Words/Editing:
– About a paragraph’s worth of words on the Pseudopod rewrite request, several editing passes, and it’s lobbed back for editorial judgment.
– 700 words on the collaboration story I’m writing with mtrimm1. Debating whether I want to finish the scene or bat it back.
– 1200 words on the Japanese fantasy, now tentatively titled “Hannya-Shin-Kyo: The Stillness Between Thoughts.” Tamed my snarling plot bunny and getting close to the home stretch.

Definitely – take Marta for jury duty…it’s smarta!
(and saves you the cost/hassle of trying to find a parking place near the coutrhouse.)

It’s about a half hour ride from the North Springs to the Five Points station. Then, yep, I switch to the Eastbound line for one stop to get me to the Georgia State station which is right under the Twin Towers state building. The Capitol building where I work is across the street from the Twin Towers.

Oof. Mucho sympathy. And yah, I would definitely take the MARTA over driving.
The Fulton County Justice Tower isn’t at the same place as the Capitol or the Twin Towers. It should say on your summons how to get there taking MARTA, but if I’m not mistaken, you take the train to Five Points and then there’s a couple- (maybe three-) block walk.
I would allow for an hour and a half for travel time from your house to the Justice Tower on a weekday morning. The worst part, actually, will probably be getting from your house to the MARTA station. Traffic is MUCH better the earlier you start out so you might be able to manage it in an hour and fifteen minutes. On the days when I leaving the house at 7, I can make it to North Springs in 25-30 minutes. When I leave at 7:10, it typically takes me 45+ minutes.
Impressive word count, but I noticed that you didn’t post Club 100 stats. Have you stopped that effort? If so, any particular reason? I’m in a stall mode myself on Club 100 days counted until November starts and I make the go for NaNoWriMo noveling acheivements for the 4th year. Something had to give while I pulled extra work shifts to get my salt mines office moved, alas,and it seems to have been my imagination. But I am noting a good story idea that the muse gifted me as I dreamt last night, so perhaps the stall is off?
I’ll cross all my crossable appendages and thunk wood that the stall is off! Drop kick those salt mine possums and get those writing possums in the air!

Sigh. Sorta. I was using Club 100 as a productivity motivator, but I kept falling off the wagon and getting annoyed and frustrated with myself. Then, when I was pulling all those 12-14+ hour/7-day workweeks, pre shiny day job, I realized I didn’t need it as a motivator anymore since I had so much on my plate; I simply couldn’t slack off. Yet there were still days that I didn’t clock in my 100 words. I was flinging hamsters like mad on other writing- and/or editing-related projects, doing research, editing other people’s manuscripts, etc., but I hadn’t officially put in my 100 words. Under those circumstances, dropping back to Day 1 seemed counterproductive on the rah-rah front–almost a de-motivator–so I stopped tallying my Club 100 days. I’m still in pretty intense hamster toss mode, so I haven’t felt the need to start up Club 100 again, but if I find myself again making excuses not to write when I have the time, I’ll surely rev up the ole Club 100 counter again.
