Café Sunflower and meme

I rarely do these sorts of things, but this one seems so nice. So, the meme-of-the-hour:

I know very little about some of the people on my friends’ list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your fic, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.

But here’s a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: “Ah, there’s so and so…she likes spinach.”

I’d love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal.

Had a wonderful evening with britzkrieg and her fiancé last night. They treated us to dinner at Café Sunflower. Yummy. And again, I am stuffed. There seems to be a reoccurring theme there. Every time I see them, I gorge. Positive reinforcement at its best. Heh. But again, we had excellent conversation in addition to excellent food. Much fun was had by all. And sometime in the hopefully-near future, we all have to get together again so britzkrieg and I can watch Thelma and Louise, a film I’ve never seen but always wanted to, and the boys can watch Zulu, a film I’ve seen most of and have no interest in ever seeing again.

Writing stats:

Rejection from Strange Horizons and Your-entry-was-not-a-finalist-this-quarter from WotF. Sigh. That’s six.

    Hmn…random fact about me. ::thinks::

I was once french-kissed by Julius Schwartz. I was 22(?); he was 71(?). It was strange. But it makes a good story, anyway.

I draw – some of my icons are my stuff. Mostly horses and unicorns and dragons and elves and wild nomads. It’s never been seen as a dignified hobby, and it urks me that I hesitate to sketch in public, because people might comment.

I have a better idea – let’s have dinner while I’m in town over winter break.

But just for the heck of it, here’s a few things about me…
my favorite pj pants are the green flannel ones with the different xmas trees on them,

    I’m addicted to chocolate,

I am way too much of a packrat,

I get a kick out of swing dancing,

I’m in love with someone with whom I have never seen for more than eight days in a row in the past year and a half, and

I’ve never seen the movie Jaws.

Hmm. I’m starting to run out.

    Let’s see.

I don’t have a television. It’s not that there aren’t any television shows I like. I just don’t have any interest in getting one.

Stephen and I don’t buy Christmas trees, nor do we have an artificial one. Well, not exactly. We have a freestanding bookcase which we decorate instead.

I do have lots of books. Lots and lots. And almost as much unsewn fabric, if you measure it in volume.

That’s all I can think of for now!

  5. Besides spinach, I also love poodles.

  6. I have 8 cats, 7 hermit crabs, and 1 wife. :>

  7. *peeks out of the shadows*

don’t I fall into that “we have something in common” catagory?

Anyhow – I’d like to see you guys sometime, since I am in Atlanta once a month, or perhaps if you two could swing up old Athens way – look me up.

    Okay, in one word I’m a feminist-vegan-anarchist-fetishistic-pacifist.

    🙂

I once accidentally tripped Walter Koenig at a Star Trek convention.

Ummmm…I’m a vegan, Christian, multiracial, disabled, Floridian who loves my cat haha.

For some reason, the most creative thinking for me happens while I’m in the shower. I tend to get wrinkly for thinking too much in there.

  12. britzkrieg says:

Hmm… you already know most of what I make publicly available about myself. Think, think, think…

I used to have a big crush on Legolas, but now I’m into Faramir… I think tornadoes are exciting and beautiful… I’m thinking about voting Democrat for the first time ever in the 2004 election… I want a Toyota Prius.

    Deep thoughts, eh?

I can’t roll my R’s, but I know how to fake it when speaking French or mimicking those “Ruffles have ridges” commercials.
