Dragon*Con Penguin

Too. Many. Dragon*Con. Schedule changes. Awake at 2:30AM prepping the Thursday pre-con edition of the Daily Dragon. Bleary-eyed and dazed and the convention hasn’t even started yet. It did not help that Comcast knocked out our Internet connection this morning.

People are deep into gas fuel panic. Huge queues at the pumps. Wish people would stay calm and not go running about trying to hoard gas.

  1. Everyone is in the panic “gas” mode. *sigh*

this must be an everyone-in-the-vague-path-of-Katrina sort of everyone, because I got a forwarded email the other day saying that if everyone in the U.S. bought no gas on September 1st, the companies would choke on the excess and have to bring prices down.

Now, I know it’s about as likely to happen as those little girls with brain cancer are going to be cured if I email ten people, but it seems a lot less likely in the wake of this whole thing, is all. Hurricanes stink.

I just listened to The Life and Times of Penguin this morning at the gym. Very uplifting. Good interpretive reading, too, I might add.

Thanks again for turning me on to Escape Pod.

I hear that some stations in Georgia started charging $6/gallon last night. That alone is going to spark a gas “panic.”

Any word from your pal in New Orleans? You haven’t mentioned anything yet. Just wondering.

I’ll see my crappy little dialup will cooperate with the download of your story.

    People can be nasty…

    (from Dreamwind the critter)

$6 per gallon??? I’m going to stop complaining about $AUS1.30 a litre then!

Here in Australia we are appalled at the devastation wrought by Katrina, and what seems to me to be very poor contingency planning. The Australian Red Cross is setting up a relief fund. Thank any gods who are listening, at least then I can help in a tiny way… but every tiny bit helps.

There are some bozos out here who are saying we shouldn’t donate money to America. America is rich, they say, and also they got the world into huge problems going into Iraq. Well, the people who have lost everything probably didn’t have much to start with, and had nothing to do with sending troops to Iraq.

Like I said, people can be nasty.
