Whew and hurray: system restore and disk cleanup saved me from having to do a full reload. Much relief.

Laptop problems are rampant. My 2 year old laptop has had its motherboard replaced once, and still occasionally freezes due to an intermittent video hardware failure. Only happens when watching video. Guess I will have to stay away from YouTube.
