Sunday, skunk-induced insomnia

I guess technically it’s not insomnia. Hobkin woke me from a deep and restful slumber at 6, hungry and insistent about breakfast NOW NOW NOW. After having my head walked over a second time, I dragged myself up mumbling fanciful threats of impending skunk stew and fed him. While he snarfed down his feast of bell pepper, cucumber, and bok choy, I got on the computer to check my email, which turned into reading my friends list, and I haven’t tried going back to sleep yet. I suspect I’ll aspire to slumber before too long which will be the telling moment of insomnia versus merely an early AM rude awakening.

Saw Richard II at the Shakespeare Tavern last night. I’m just not a huge fan of the histories. It was one of the (if not the) best production of R2 I’ve ever seen, but it still didn’t float my socks. Once again, I must applaud the Tavern for being able to bring Shakespeare alive with humor (even in a downer like R2) and excellent directorial vision. And yet, meh.

Also watched Van Helsing on DVD. That movie doesn’t hold up to serious re-watching. It’s pretty, but the plot holes and wretched writing become more pronounced with repetition. I think that film will be relegated to “background” status in the future.

You got that right. It was a fun roller-coaster ride in the theater (and very, very pretty – Hugh Jackman in a leather duster? Rowr), but really, you could drive a fleet of mac trucks through the holes in the plot.

You’ve read ‘s 15-minute review of it, right? It was a riot.

I just surfed over and read it. My out-loud giggling made my husband come over to see what I was snarfling about, and then he had to read it.

I like “hell ewoks” best, although I thought they were “munchkins” more than “ewoks.”

  2. you actually bought Van Hellsing? you poor kid….

lemme reccommend some decent Halloween films in the future for ye.

BTW, tell me about this Shakespeare’s Tavern…. thought about going there one day. Think I’ll make it a Christmas present to myself or something. heh.

No, no! Lordie, no. We rented it from NetFlix. Van Helsing is definitely not worth purchasing.

tell me about this Shakespeare’s Tavern

Good food, great Shakespeare, an excellent evening’s entertainment. They’re the consistently best Shakespeare I’ve seen. Their website: http://www.shakespearetavern.com.

      • Ok, just making sure. Figured you two had good tastes in films. ^^ Still think I’m gonna do that list though…

Hmm…. maybe I’ll go to this Tavern in a couple weeks. Seems cool.

BTW, any ideas on a place to go for Halloween? Kinda out of the loop on good activitites and such and you seem like you’d know something along those lines. *shrug*

Oh…. should I grab Incubus Dreams or wait to borrow it from a friend? Word hasn’t been too promising from what I can see.

Oh, let Hobson make things up to you. ^^ *talks him into going into pillow mode*

Yeah, I highly recommend the Shakespeare Tavern as an evening out.

Hmm, not so much this year with it being on a Sunday. We’re having some friends fly in, give candy out to the costumed sprogs, hang, that’s it. throws a cool haunted house. Um, not sure what else . . .

I’m thinking “borrow.” It was fun to read, but I don’t think I’m going to be re-reading it.

You need to teach Hobkin to wake Matthew for these morning feedings…
