Yep, I’m sick.

The swelling joints in my fingers to go with the aches in my neck and shoulders as well as the perpetual exhaustion have convinced me that I’m having a flare-up, fever or no. Made an appointment with my Rheumatologist for Friday. Also got a note from the leech labs, and it seems my white blood count is low, so there’s qualitative indication that all is not well on the Eugie front. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Dragon*Con took a lot out of me and then I followed that up with GABPC which, while nothing on the scale of Dragon*Con, undoubtedly threw my system off just as it was in the process of recovering. I’m sure the whacked out sleep cycle I’m on isn’t helping either. (Being awake at 4:30AM is not my idea of healthful.) So yeah, I feel like crap.

My Things-to-Do list is exploding out of all reasonable size and all I want to do is sleep. Of course, I piddle about with a meme. All the cool kids are doing it . . .

I feel your pain. I figured that was why you were up so late/early. *gentle hugs from someone who understands and knows what you endure*

    I’m usually a Totalitarian.

*hugs* Oh, I hope you feel better VERY soon, dear.

It’s so lovely to come into contact with someone who is even more liberal than I am. 🙂

I have heard that cuddling a skunk can be theraputic, but I haven’t tested the theory.

    Social in Moderation

I’m a Social Moderate… probably because I believe there are sections of the population that need to be forcibly sterilised. Any sane person who works in a public hospital feels this way. Any nice feelings are generally killed by the sight of all the heavily pregnant women smoking outside at morning tea. (sorry – had to rant.)

I am sorry about your pain. Chronic illness is an absolute bitch. I have some suggestions, though (some of which may make you go ‘urk!’). My sister-in-law has lupis, and whenever she gets a bad flare up, she lays off the caffeine and sugar. While she was pregnant she didn’t drink any coffee. 2 days after the birth of her daughter, she had a coffee to celebrate and couldn’t move her arms 2 hours later. Now she treats coffee as a special occasion drink and drinks herbal tea instead.

Have you ever heard of the d’Adamo blood group diet? Without going into great specifics, the different blood groups evolved at different stages of human activity, and different foods are better processed by the different blood groups. My sister-in-law (with lupis) put me on to it. At the time, my Crohn’s Disease was so out of control my specialist was mentioning the 2 evil words – steroids and resection. I decided to give the Blood Group Diet a try and noticed improvement within a week. 3 years later, I can control my condition totally with diet and no medication. I’ve recommended the diet to other people with Crohn’s and it’s helped them as well.

My sister-in-law believes it made a difference to her lupis, and another friend with out of control thyroid problems went on it and had almost immediate relief. Some dietitians think it’s complete rubbish, but I’ll take anything that means I don’t have to be sliced open again.

If you want to give it a try, the book is called “Eat Right for Your Type.”

Thanks for the diet suggestion. I’ll have to look into it.

        Re: Diet

WARNING,if you are Blood Type O like me, Type Os are recommended to eat meat. However, there are herbal dietary supplements that mimic the functions of meat in the digestive tract. But even if you don’t adopt the diet fully, you might get some ideas.

Urk. I think I’m Type O as well, which makes the diet less viable, but still an interesting concept to research . . . Any websites on it? I go to flex my Google-fu.

            Re: Diet

Try http://www.dadamo.com. You will probably find advice there from Type-O vegetarians. There is advice for Blood Type Diet practitioners, so surely there will be someone to give you some advice.

The one time I tried vegetarian the Crohn’s Disease went absolutely out of control – many of the legumes (like lentils) that would normally be a good source of protein are bad for Type-Os.

  5. Greetings from a fellow social liberal, and sincere wishes for your speedy recovery. *hugs*

Well crap. I scored a…DEMOCRAT. Bleh. A party with no platform, yippee!

I was hoping for Libertarian; think people should have the right to kill themselves in the manner they see fit. Oh, well, I guess all that “save the environment stuff” I believe in chucks me in with the Dems.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Being sick sucks! Hope you get well soon. I am just now getting over the cold I caught on the trip back from Dragon*con.

Speaking of Dragon*Con… did I mention that I had a wonderful time? It was great fun talking to and annoying you, Foster_on_Film and Dude_The. I probably did, but it was such fun it is worth repeating.

I am only a Strong Democrat. No surprise there.

You got hit by post-con crud? Ugh. Poor Dean!

I’m very glad you had a great time at D*C, plague-cold notwithstanding. It was wonderful seeing you again. Just wish we could’ve hung out for longer. And I was ye verily quite amused to see the lights click when you and realized who the other was. *snerk* Next year you must stay for longer so we can actually, y’know, catch up!

  9. Feel better soon, Eugie. *hugs*

    And don’t feel bad

Don’t feel bad about whining! It isn’t whining. Cronic diseases are an absolute pain at the best of times and when they play up it’s the pits. Hug your skunk and your husband.

All I can do is talk to my cactii. They aren’t too good at giving sympathy, but they look pretty. And some of them can actually be stroked without spiking.

    Hugs and well wishes.
