OutlantaCon/Gaylaxicon 2011 Schedule

I’ll be a guest again this year at OutlantaCon, which is this weekend. (Gah! How did it get to be mid-May already?) Got my schedule this morning from the convention folks, and I’m only doing one panel:

  • “Marketing and Publicity” – A look at how to make the public aware of your work and create an audience. With Keith Hartman. Sun (5/15) 11AM-Noon, Centennial III.

The programming director originally had me doing a solo panel/Q&A, but I bowed out of it. I hate those. Public speaking trepidation and anxiety notwithstanding, I never know what to say or do when it’s just me up there. Plus I can’t imagine why anyone would come specifically to see me mumble and fidget for an hour. So this will be a nice, low-key convention for me. Looking forward to some good ole-fashioned hanging out.

Hope to see folks there!

We should’ve done the panel together. Then we could’ve both ummed and uhhed our way through an hour, ’cause I’m in exactly the same boat as you. LOL

YAY for lots of free time! I have a phone number for you in my phone, which I hope is still right, and I’m pretty sure you have mine, but you know where I’ll be most of the weekend. 🙂

Fooie, I should’ve thought to suggest doing a panel with you! That would’ve been hella fun. Dratnabitsnrg!

My phone number is the same one I provide in the DD orientation packet. The one I have for you has a 404 area code and ends in 0. That right?

  3. Shae Connor says:

    That’s the one! I’ll double-check my D*C file, but I’m 99% sure that’s where yours came from. 🙂

    • Eugie Foster says:

Coolness. I’m pretty sure that’s the only phone number I’ve had while I’ve helmed the DD, so we should be all good.

I still remember when you spoke to us in Ann’s class at DragonCon (in ’08? That long ago already?!?). You energized the room.

You’ll be great. Wish I was a few hours further south–I’d drop in just to hear you again.

As it is, South-Central Illinois is just a liiiiiitle bit far from Atlanta. So. I’ll wish you well and keep an ear out for podcasts that have your name on ’em. Good luck!

    • Eugie Foster says:

Aw, thanks, Joe! I’m really glad you found my talk at Ann’s class enjoyable. I’m always a jittery bundle of nerves beforehand, and I’m never able to tell how they go over at the time because I’m too fixated on getting through my presentation to gauge folks’ reactions. But I typically enjoy doing them…afterward :).
