Another Review of “Sinner, Baker, Fabulist, Priest” and Hugo Pimping

Scott D. Danielson reviewed the Escape Pod podcast of “Sinner, Baker, Fabulist, Priest” at, giving snaps to both myself and the fabulous Larry Santoro, who narrated it:

“…each section of the story is a heightened emotional experience. The intensity of this story was spectacularly captured by Lawrence Santoro, who narrated in a dramatic manner that reminds me of Harlan Ellison. Bravo to author and narrator – a perfect match. A great story, truly worthy of a Nebula.”

And in a clumsy segue, this month has passed in something of a blur, and I just realized that the deadline for Hugo nominations is this Saturday, the 13th. For folks attending Aussiecon 4 or have supporting memberships who haven’t completed their nominations, I invite you to consider my novelette “Sinner, Baker, Fabulist, Priest; Red Mask, Black Mask, Gentleman, Beast.”

  1. I took me about forever to figure out I could read this story online. Because I am that clueless sometimes.

Anyway, I can’t do Hugo stuff but I would so vote for this one if I could. I love it. And that title’s been rattling round in my head for the last few weeks. Wow.

  2. And don’t forget that “Sinner, Baker,…” won second place on a sudden death poll on the Escape Pod forums by Escape Pod listeners, for the best EP story of 2009. The #1 spot went to last year’s Hugo winner, “Exhalation” by Ted Chaing. Pretty good company. The poll had to go to sudden dealth because the same two stories tied in a previous poll where more than one vote was permitted.
