I just sold my horror story “The Reign of the Wintergod” to The Asylum Volume 3: The Quiet Ward anthology! Two sales in two days! Yowza
The Quiet Ward will debut at the Horrorfind convention in Maryland this August!
May this be indication of more floodgates opening. Pleasepleaseplease.
Woohoo!
Wow. Two for two. Congrats. 🙂
(And, of course, lob…)
Thanks!
And I’m horrible at catching, so I’ll just let the ole envy-ball ricochet off my head. *kawping*
U rock, U G!
Sank U!
Wow! Awesome!
You’ll have to post a list of all the books out there that include your work, and where we can get them – I buy about a book or two a week on average, and I’m running low.
Thanks! And ooo, an opening for shameless self-promotion!
I keep a webpage that has my current bibliography as well as how to purchase my stuff at:
http://home.comcast.net/~eugienmatt/writing.htm.
So exicted for you! Congratulations!
Thank you!
Wow! Amazing! I go to a D*C meeting, come back and pow you have something else being published! Congratulations!!
Thanks! I’m pretty dazed about the whole thing myself.
How did the D*C meeting go? Err, we weren’t supposed to have attended that were we? *hastily checking calendar*
heh No, it was a scheduling meeting. I go about every week to D*C meetings these days. It went well, it’s a bit like playing tetris every week. 🙂
We do have a general staff meeting on the 12th, but don’t worry, I will email out reminders to everyone.
I just want to say I am really proud of you and so happy for you! Congratulations again!
Congratulations!! 🙂
Thanks!
Yay!
Do you get tired of these one-word responses?
Thanks!
“Do you get tired of these one-word responses?“
Hee. Not at all. Succinctness is next to godliness . . . or something like that. <--Eugie, not being succinct.
*mentally wills you open floodgates*
once again, CONGRATS!!!
*wishful splooshings received!* And thanks!
short story question?
hello… suggested i ask you about any suggestions or words of wisdon on publishing short stories?
Re: short story question?
I’m more than happy to answer any questions you have or point you to some excellent online resources. What sort of fiction do you write?
If it’s genre, let me recommend these sites:
http://www.sfwa.org – Official website of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. With excellent articles on the logistics and minutiae of getting published.
http://www.speculations.com/rumormill – Discussion board frequented by writers, editors, and publishers.
http://www.ralan.com – Very comprehensive and up-to-date market listings.
And I highly (highly) recommend joining a writers group to get feedback and input. There are many to be found online, not to mention the IRL ones. I’m a member of three online groups–one public and two private. The public one is http://www.critters.org which is an excellent free workshop. It’s large and very well run. Just one caveat: if you join an online writers group, make sure that all submissions are either passworded on the site or are only emailed to members. If you post a work of fiction that is available for anyone to view on the web (even on your own homepage), many markets consider that as “published” and you can no longer sell first publication rights to that work.
Re: short story question?
thanks so much for the helpful links and suggestions. as far as what type of writing i think i would simply label it as bizarre fiction that is somewhat on the dark side at times.
thanks again. i am going to add you to my friends list if that is ok with you?
Re: short story question?
I’ve added you to my friends list too!
Gah! Congrats again! If this doesn’t snap you out of your recent doldrums, I don’t know what will.
Thanks for letting me bask in your glory. 😉
Thanks! Yeah, I’m feeling pretty pleased about how this week has turned out. Even the rejection form letter I got in the mail yesterday didn’t spoil the fuzzy euphoria!
