Happy birthday to Jason Sizemore, editor of Apex Digest! They made their new subscriber challenge goal, so effective as of issue 6, their pay rate is $.015/word. Rah!
And The Town Drunk is once again open to submissions. Do you write funny? If so, submit, yo!
New Words:
2300 on “A Thread of Silk,” and I’m not happy with the title anymore.
It’s one epilogue away from zero draft and about 200 words over my maximum word count. Unfortunately, that’s after a thorough editing pass that chopped out about 500 words.

“I think my muse wants to write a novel.”
Yes. A fantasy with a girl whose furry companion is a skunk.
Maggie (pretending to be Eugie’s muse) 😉
Back you! Shoo! Hobkin’s been prominently featured in a number of my stories already, the fuzzy lumpkin. His influence on my muse is quite strong enough, thank-you-very-much.
Yes, but those are short stories. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a YA novel where a girl has a skunk. It’s a hook, Eugie! A hook, I tell you! 🙂
It’s not fair. I’m so outnumbered.
Do you write funny? If so, submit, yo!
Hmmm. Maybe I should get off my lazy ass and write something again, at that.
Hell, yeah! *prod prod prod*

That story certainly has grown…The pitched battle was clearly bad for its health. I think your muse is trying to assert her control over you(going over the wordcount, making you change the title). Show her who’s boss 😉

Oof. Trying. She’s a wily minx, she is. And persistent. I think I may deluding myself in thinking I’m the one in charge of this writing shtick.

Act as if you were in charge 😉 Maybe the muse will get frightened and co-operate.
